"Free" often means a trap: free to sign up, then a quiet cut on every ₹499 PDF. That is why creators ask if ownstreet is actually free, or if there is a hidden commission after the first sale. What "free" means on ownstreet

Free means you can open an account, build a bio page, draft products, connect bank payouts (bank account + PAN) or your own Razorpay keys, and publish one live paid product without paying ownstreet a monthly bill. Marketplace listing can appear after a completed paid sale when the shop is eligible. WhatsApp button stays free on every plan.

Free does not mean unlimited forever. The public Pricing page lists the caps: publish 1 paid product when payments are connected, and up to 5 paid sales before you need Pro to keep selling. Two different fees get mixed up in DMs. Feature: ownstreet does not take a platform percentage of your product sale. Razorpay is the payment processor. Buyers pay with UPI, cards, and other methods Razorpay supports. Razorpay charges its processing fee on successful payments. Fee math on a ₹499 sale

Optional paid plans are not a hidden fee on Free sales. They are upgrades when Free caps block growth. Pro is ₹299/month. Pro Max is ₹799/month. On both, ownstreet still takes 0% platform fee on product sales. You pay a flat subscription for tools, not a percentage of GMV.

Does ownstreet take a commission on sales?
