ownstreet Free Plan: What Happens After 5 Sales

ownstreet Free allows up to 5 completed paid sales (policy since 20 Jul 2026), then new checkout pauses until you upgrade to Pro at ₹299/mo. Platform fee stays 0% on product sales either way; Razorpay gateway fees still apply. Free also caps at 1 live paid product. If a warm buyer says checkout will not finish after your early sales, that is usually this cap, not a broken key. This page covers what counts, what does not, what your page still shows, and when Pro is the right next step. Full plan table: Pricing. Break-even: Is ownstreet Pro worth it. Upgrade path: /signup.

Quick answer

Free: 1 live paid product, up to 5 completed paid sales since 20 Jul 2026, then upgrade to keep selling. Abandoned or unpaid checkouts do not count. Pro and Pro Max: unlimited live products and paid sales. ownstreet still takes 0% platform fee on product sales. Razorpay gateway fees still apply.

What the Free sales limit actually is

The ownstreet free plan 5 sales limit is a hard cap on completed paid orders while you stay on Free. It sits next to the other Free gate: only one live paid product at a time. Draft as many products as you want. Only one can be live for buyers until Pro.

  • Counts: orders with payment_status completed after 20 Jul 2026, 00:00 IST
  • Does not count: abandoned carts, created-but-unpaid checkouts, refunded flows that never completed
  • Does not reset when you unpublish a product or change the price
  • Still 0% ownstreet platform fee on those sales (gateway fees separate)

What buyers see when you hit the cap

Your store URL can still load. Your product card can still look fine. The break is at pay time. New buyers who try to complete a purchase get blocked at checkout until the seller upgrades. That feels like a site bug to them. It is a plan limit.

  • Warm Instagram or YouTube traffic still lands on your page
  • They tap buy, then cannot finish payment on Free after the fifth completed sale
  • You keep prior earnings that already settled to bank or Razorpay
  • You can still edit products, drafts, and payout settings in the dashboard

Note

Do not ask buyers to pay on a personal UPI QR as a workaround. You lose automatic delivery, receipts, and refund hygiene. Upgrade, or pause public CTAs until Pro is live.

Why Free stops at five (and that is intentional)

Free exists so you can prove INR pricing, UPI, and file delivery without paying rent on day one. Five completed sales is enough to learn whether the offer converts. After that, unlimited selling is a Pro job. Marketplace listing after first sale stays available on every plan when you are eligible. Listing guide: How to list on ownstreet marketplace.

Pro at ₹299 when the cap is the blocker

If checkout is already pausing, the decision is not abstract. You are choosing between lost warm traffic and a flat month of Pro. One more ₹299–₹499 sale often covers the month. Percentage platforms still take a cut every order even after you are past five sales. Confirm live rows on Pricing.

  • Unlimited live products and unlimited paid sales
  • Email capture, PDF stamping, reviews, and fuller analytics (see Pricing)
  • Still 0% ownstreet platform fee on product sales
  • Pro Max is optional later for domain, coupons, and Featured marketplace

A clean upgrade checklist (same day)

  • Open Dashboard → Upgrade / Pricing and start Pro (₹299/month on Pricing).
  • Confirm checkout works with one real UPI test on mobile data.
  • Repost your bio or YouTube description link so warm buyers retry.
  • Reply to anyone who hit the pause: same product, checkout is live again.
  • Only then launch product #2 if it is ready.

Mistakes that make the pause worse

  • Pushing a big Reel or YouTube upload while already at five completed sales
  • Collecting personal UPI in DMs to “keep sales going”
  • Assuming a declined pay means Razorpay is down without checking the Free cap
  • Drafting product #2 and wondering why it will not go live on Free

Bottom line

Free proves the store. Five completed paid sales later, checkout pauses on purpose. If buyers are warm and the offer works, upgrade to Pro, reopen UPI, then grow the catalog. If the offer is not converting yet, fix the product before you pay for Pro. Start or upgrade at Signup. Compare plans on Pricing.

FAQ: Free sales limit and upgrades

Do refunded or failed pays count toward the five?

Only completed paid sales count. Abandoned checkouts do not. If a payment never completed, it should not consume the Free cap. When unsure, check your orders list for completed rows since 20 Jul 2026.

Does the cap reset every month?

No. It is not a monthly allowance on Free. After five completed paid sales under the Free policy window, you upgrade to keep selling, or stay paused for new pays.

Can I stay on Free forever if I only need one product?

You can keep the page and one live product on Free, but new paid checkouts stop after five completed sales. For ongoing selling of even one SKU, Pro is the path.

Will upgrading restore my marketplace listing?

Marketplace eligibility is about first paid sale, payments readiness, and a live product, not about the sales cap alone. If you were listed and only hit the Free sales cap, fix checkout with Pro first so buyers can pay again.

Is this the same as the one live product rule?

No. Free has two separate gates: one live paid product, and five completed paid sales. Hitting either one can block growth. Pro removes both for normal catalog selling.
