Payhip Alternative India (2026): Does Payhip Work for UPI?

Payhip is not blocked for Indian sellers. You can sell digital files from India if you connect a local gateway. The useful question is which gateway, what Payhip bills separately, and whether Instagram buyers should land on Payhip or on one bio store.

Does Payhip work in India?

Yes, with a local processor. Payhip's Razorpay help (page last updated 31 Dec 2025, fetched 27 Sep 2026) says Razorpay supports payment processing for sellers in India, and that the Payhip account currency must match the Razorpay account. The same page lists UPI apps such as BHIM, PhonePe, and Paytm, plus cards, netbanking, and wallets. It also says the Razorpay option shows in Account, Settings, Payment Details when it is available for your region, with a See All Payment Options control if you do not see it at first.

Payhip's PayU help (last updated 17 Dec 2025, same fetch date) says PayU supports sellers in India and lists UPI among local methods. Customers are sent to PayU at checkout. They do not need a PayU account to pay.

• Razorpay path: paste Key ID and Key Secret from your Razorpay API keys. Payhip also links a free Razorpay signup if you do not have one yet.
• PayU path: paste Key and Salt from PayU's developer API details.
• Payout shape: Payhip says the full Razorpay or PayU payment reaches you without Payhip's fee taken out of that charge. Payhip then bills its fee on a card at the end of the month.
• Gateway cut: Payhip's help says Razorpay's standard fee ranges from 2% and varies by method and country. That line is Payhip's wording, not a Razorpay invoice. Confirm the live rate on Razorpay's pricing page. PayU's help uses the same 'ranges from 2%' wording and says those fees stay with PayU.

PayPal is the part that fails for domestic cards

Payhip's PayPal error help (last updated 17 Mar 2026, fetched 27 Sep 2026) documents the message "We're not currently set up for transactions in India." Payhip says this is a PayPal limit on domestic debit or credit card payments inside India. Their fix for an Indian seller is to connect Razorpay or PayU instead. So a Payhip store that only has PayPal connected can look open and still fail the buyer who pays with an Indian card.

What we could not verify on Payhip's fee

payhip.com/pricing did not load in this check (Cloudflare block on 27 Sep 2026). The help articles say a Payhip fee exists and is billed monthly to a card. They do not print the percentage. Do not copy a Payhip percent from memory or from another blog. Open payhip.com and read the current plan before you compare profit.
